Privacy
The short version: no analytics, no tracking cookies, and the field kit keeps what you type in your own browser.
In brief
- As built, this site runs no analytics and sets no tracking or advertising cookies.
- The field kit tools store what you enter only in your own browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or to anyone else.
- The introductory video comes from YouTube, and only after you press play.
- The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes basic connection data, such as IP addresses, to keep it secure.
What we collect
Nothing about you, by design. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no newsletter boxes, no analytics scripts and no advertising tags on these pages. The fonts are served from this site rather than from a font service, so reading a page doesn’t tell a third party you were here.
Like any website, the servers and network that deliver these pages handle standard technical information in order to do it: your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser type and the time. That information is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don’t use it to build a profile of you.
The field kit stays on your device
The reliability check, the one-page health brief and the checklists are designed to work without sending anything anywhere. When a tool remembers your answers, ticks or entries, it saves them in your browser’s local storage, on the device you’re using. They are not transmitted to this site, to Dr. Scott, or to any other service. If you print a page or save a file, that copy is yours and stays wherever you put it.
The health brief goes a step further: remembering your entries is off unless you turn it on, and you can instead save your brief as a file on your own computer and load it again later.
To remove what the field kit has stored, use the “Clear everything on this device” button on any field kit tool’s page, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. If you use a shared or public computer, clear it before you leave, because anyone using the same browser on that device could see it. Private or incognito windows usually discard local storage when they close.
The video
The two-minute introduction on the home page is hosted by YouTube. Until you press play, the page shows a still image served from this site and makes no request to YouTube. When you press play, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed, and from that point Google’s privacy policy applies to the video.
Hosting and security
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which sits between your browser and our server to speed up delivery and block attacks. To do that, Cloudflare processes connection data such as IP addresses and may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to check that a visitor is a person rather than a bot. Cloudflare explains its handling of that data in its privacy policy.
Links to other sites
Pages here link to sources such as the CDC, PubMed and the NTSB, and to Dr. Scott’s other sites, including The Scott Health Advisory, where consultations are booked. Those sites have their own privacy practices. Anything you send through The Scott Health Advisory’s contact page is handled by that practice, not by this site.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children.
Changes and questions
If anything here changes, for example if the site ever adds analytics, this page will say so and its date will change before the change takes effect. Questions about privacy can go to The Scott Health Advisory through its contact page or by phone at 410-336-7894.
